AROUND LAKE BALATON
We are confident that for most teams starting in 2025, this won’t be their first NN Ultrabalaton competition. We are grateful to the returning participants for their trust, and to the newcomers, we wish them to experience what we call the RUNNING FESTIVAL. Would you like to participate in the 2025 NN Ultrabalaton? Then it’s time to organize your team as soon as possible and register.
We are proud that in recent years, the NN Ultrabalaton has grown to become the most popular mass sports event in Hungary, and despite expansions, it continues to sell out year after year. In 2022, the competition filled up in a record time of just 2 minutes, and after the registration closed, more than 700 teams signed up for the waiting list. In 2024, over 25,000 people joined us for a lap. The capacity around Lake Balaton is finite, so for 2025, we will have to reintroduce a participant limit. We recommend that you don’t delay! RACE PACKAGE COLLECTION:
The conditions for collecting the race package are a completed liability waiver and the presentation of a unique QR code found in the StafétApp race package collection feature! You can collect your race package before the event at our Budapest office located at 1134 Tüzér utca 9-11, or in Balatonfüred at the race center on Thursday and Friday, or on Saturday before the starts. (The exact schedule for package collection will be published before the event.)

AWARDS
- Every team who finishes within the time limit receives unique finisher medals.
- The 1st to 3rd place teams in each category receive trophies.
SPECIAL CATEGORIES
Corporate team category for 7-13 member teams.
Only individuals working for the same company and their family members can participate in these teams. These teams also compete in the relay race evaluation by category. It is important that the company name has to be included in the team name!
REGISTRATION
The registration portal for the XIX NN Ultrabalaton for teams of seven to thirteen is open and only 100 foreign team can register because the race is near to full house.
Having a Personal Profile is essential for registration, which can be created by clicking HERE. Your data can be modified at any time. Please ensure that your name is saved according to Hungarian regulations, i.e., LAST NAME first, FIRST NAME last. This is significant for registrations done via Gmail.
PARTICIPANT LIMITS
IMPORTANT CHANGE FOR 2025!
Every year, more people want to register, for which we are very grateful, but based on the experiences from 2024, we are setting the following limits! For teams of 10-13 members, the registration portal will be open for a maximum of 48 hours. In the 10-13 member category, we limit the number of participating teams to 1,600! (Once this number is reached, the registration portal will close, and thereafter only waiting list registration will be available.)
For teams of 7-9 members, the following limits will apply:
- 90 seven-member teams
- 90 eight-member teams
- 90 nine-member teams
After the above slots are filled, you can register for the waiting list.
Captains of the 1st to 3rd place teams from the 2024 NN Ultrabalaton, the Fighter’s Run, teams from the UTT 130, and the Ultrabalaton TRAIL will be notified by email the week before registration opens. They can register and reserve a START TIME before the general registration opens.

The amounts indicate the per-person fee (HUF/person), and the deadlines indicate registration and payment deadlines—please keep this in mind when making transfers!

The amounts are to be understood as gross amounts in Hungarian Forints. On January 16, unpaid registrations will be CANCELED!

In case of personal cash payments, individual participants can choose one gift item from previous years while supplies last! (Please note that we cannot provide a full size assortment for gift t-shirts, and last year’s headlamps and soft cups are also available in limited quantities. Therefore, we can only guarantee this promotion while stock lasts. Thank you for your understanding!)
ATTENTION!
We are unable to accept postal checks.
If the registration fee is initiated via postal check, the bank will immediately return it.
The registration fee must be transferred in one lump sum.
Invoices can only be issued to the name and address provided during registration; we cannot break down invoices.
Separately received fees will be refunded to the sender after deducting bank charges!
DEPOSIT PAYMENT
We want only registrations backed by real competitors, so we will initiate athlete and medal orders immediately after the registrations, which is why we introduced the deposit based on your suggestions in 2018. After successful registration, team captains will receive an email informing them about which account number (for transfer or personal payment at our race office) they need to pay 40,000 HUF for teams of 7-13 members by September 25, 2024, and 40,000 HUF for teams of 2-6 members by September 30, 2024. A receipt will be sent in compliance with accounting regulations.
IMPORTANT!
Please set the billing information accurately, as we cannot issue a revised invoice for the deposit. Team registrations that do not receive a deposit by the specified deadline will be automatically canceled, and their spots will be filled later. The same applies to teams that pay the deposit late; their deposits will be refunded after deducting bank charges.
Depositors will have until January 15, 2025, to pay the remaining registration fee. Non-paying teams will have their registrations canceled, but their deposits will not be refunded; their spots will be filled later.
For corporate teams, if necessary, they can request an invoice for the deposit and the remaining amount. Requests can be sent via email to hello@ultrabalaton.hu.
FOR TEAM CAPTAINS’ ATTENTION
On September 19, 2024, when registering for the 7-13 member teams, we will request the following information:
- Team name
- Category (corporate // non-corporate // men’s team // women’s team)
- Team size (7-13 members – can only be modified upwards later based on individual evaluation)
- Planned lap time for the 211 km long lap (the team’s planned lap time can be modified until March 1, 2025, using the team captain’s personal profile); the maximum selectable lap time for teams of 7-13 members is 27 hours
- Athlete sizes for team members. Separate sizes for men and women; the athlete sizes provided at registration can be modified using the team captain’s profile until October 6, 2024
- Billing name and address (for companies, the company name, billing address, and tax number must be provided)
You can only register one team from a single profile. If you plan to register multiple teams, we recommend designating all team captains in advance! For corporate team registrations, the company name must appear in the team name (e.g., UtáNNfutók, NN Running Fanatics, Team NN No. 1, Team NN No. 2).
If you would like to register a cyclist escort for the team, they must register for the McDonald’s BringaMánia Ultrabalaton Bike Tour with their own profile; during registration, they must select that they are a „TEAM ESCORT CYCLIST” and provide the name of the escorted team.
Special dietary requirements (vegetarian/regular) should also be indicated.

- Wristband (required to be worn during the race, as well as by cyclist escorts, as it provides access to extra services at designated points)

CYCLIST ESCORTS
If your team wants a cyclist escort, the cyclist must register separately for the McDonald’s BringaMánia Ultrabalaton Bike Tour using their own profile. During registration, select the option „TEAM ESCORT CYCLING TOUR PARTICIPANT” and provide the name of the team they’ll be accompanying.
Cycling around Lake Balaton at one’s own pace is already challenging, but accompanying a runner and matching their pace is an even bigger feat. We want to support escorts who might spend up to 27 hours in the saddle with the following:
- Personalized bib number
- Access to eight predetermined refreshment points
TIMEKEEPING
Timing is monitored online at designated points. While the 7-13 person teams can optionally use the timing system along the course, timing at the start and finish is mandatory for all.
IMPORTANT
At railway crossings, no time credits are given; however, staff will be on-site to facilitate and ensure safe crossings.
CHIP DEPOSIT – BIOTECHUSA NN ULTRABALATON CHARITY PROGRAM
A 5000 HUF deposit per team is required to collect timing chips. Please note that we cannot accept banknotes larger than 5000 HUF for deposits. The BioTechUSA NN Ultrabalaton Charity Program continues in 2025! You can donate your chip deposit to a charitable cause, selected annually by the NN Ultrabalaton and BioTechUSA community. In return, you’ll receive a small token of appreciation. Help us make a difference together! Show the strength of the NN Ultrabalaton community in 2025!
Chips not returned at the finish line can be refunded until May 9, 2025.
TIME LIMIT
For teams with 7-13 members, the maximum selectable time for completing the circuit is 27 hours. The time limit is based on the starting time plus the planned lap time plus one additional hour.
START TIMES
The official start times for the teams will be announced no later than March 10, 2025.
NOTES FOR VEHICLE AND CYCLIST ESCORTS
The race course follows the Balaton bike path, but on the southern shore, the path sometimes runs through local streets. For safety reasons, it is strictly prohibited for vehicles to accompany runners on these stretches. We encourage cyclist escorts to stay ahead of or behind their runners, not beside them. We also recommend that vehicle escorts use the StafétApp for guidance!
REFRESHMENTS
At the race, 53 relay and refreshment points will be available to help you replenish lost fluids and calories.
For environmental reasons, we are eliminating single-use plastic cups and plates. Refreshments will only be provided in your own cup or bottle at each point.
At the refreshment points, you’ll find:
- Theodora mineral water
- BioTechUSA isotonic sports drink
- bananas
- dextrose
- salty pretzels
- raisins
During the Saturday team race, some points will also offer hot tea and coffee for participants with wristbands, thanks to our sponsors!
GYERMELYI PASTA PARTY
Make sure to arrive at the competition center on time on Thursday because starting at 16:00, we will host the first 1,000 participants at the Gyermelyi Pasta Party. To participate in the pasta party, you must wear the wristband provided with your race pack.
#RUNGREEN
In 2025, the race will again be organized with an eco-friendly approach. There will be no disposable plastic cups at the refreshment points; instead, you can receive refreshments in your own cup, soft cup, or a water bottle rented at the competition center. Waste generated during the race will be sorted and sent for recycling.
WINE CELLAR RUN
The route will pass through the Varga Winery’s cellar at the 39.5 km mark, which can be accessed via a staircase. The temperature here is expected to be lower, and humidity will be higher than outside.
FINISH AREA OPENING HOURS
From 18:00 on April 26, 2025, until 18:00 on April 27, 2025.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
A medical team will accompany the participants, equipped with ambulances and motorbikes. The contact number will be printed on your bib number. We kindly ask all participants to look out for fellow runners in need of assistance during the race. If the medical team deems a participant unfit to continue, they may remove the runner’s bib number and disqualify them from the race.
AWARD CEREMONY
As per tradition, the award ceremony will be held on Sunday after all teams have arrived at the finish. Prizes will only be awarded during the ceremony. We ask podium finishers to honor the event and their competitors by attending the ceremony promptly. Awards will not be given or mailed later to those who miss the ceremony.

PHOTOS
Photos taken at the start and finish will be available for free download after the race. Due to the high number of participants, we cannot guarantee a photo of every participant, so it might be helpful to have a keen photographer among your supporters!
Along the course, professional photographers from Futófotó will capture your moments, and these images will be searchable and buyable by bib number on futofoto.hu!
OUR RUNNING ETHIC
During the NN Ultrabalaton, we are guests of Lake Balaton. We would like to return the lake and its surroundings in at least as clean a state as we found them, but we need your cooperation to achieve this! The local communities warmly welcome us each year. Our race is known for its good atmosphere, but we ask you to respect the peace of the residents along the route and those who are not participating in the race!
Help fellow runners in trouble, even if it means you lose time.
We are runners. We do not distinguish ourselves by skin color, religion, gender, or age. It doesn’t matter where we come from or how fast we go. What unites us is our love for sport and the mutual respect we have for each other and the distance.
The helpers at the stations will cheer you on and assist you to the best of their ability.
True, this is a race, but please keep the rules of fair play in mind at all times! Win or lose, do so cleanly and with your head held high, following both the written and unwritten rules! Do it not for others, but for yourself. This will make the experience unforgettable and will make you an inseparable part of what we call the NN ULTRABALATON.
