When organizing NN Ultrabalaton, we face many challenges and unexpected situations. But every year, we begin with the same goal: to stay true to tradition and the spirit of the race while making the next edition even better!
We truly hope that the 21st NN Ultrabalaton in Spring 2027 will once again become an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for all of you.
We’ve collected everything that will stay the same in 2027, and all the important changes you need to know about:
WHAT’S NEW IN 2027
- In 2027, we will not increase the entry fees.
- In recent years, participants have received plenty of technical running shirts at our running events. Breaking with tradition, in 2027 we would like to surprise our entrants with a textile T-shirt suitable for everyday wear. The shirt design is still a secret, but you will also see some of its elements on the 2027 UB Collection apparel.
- We are working on creating a race centre directly by the lakeside, where we can take start and finish photos for you with the most beautiful Lake Balaton backdrop.
- In response to your requests, we will also hold an age-group awards ceremony in the individual 209 km race.
- Prize money! – One of our biggest innovations for domestic and international ultrarunners is that in 2027, we will offer a prize purse (Exact details coming soon.)
- Due to the exceptionally high prize purse, we will also introduce doping controls to ensure the integrity of the race.
- New NN UB 2027 Collection! – ZED and Öcsi’s imagination knows no limits! The UB Collection will be available in limited quantities, so if you are looking for a unique running shirt, keep an eye on the NN UB channels so you don’t miss out.
- Due to high demand, in 2027 we will maintain the 2026 team-size limit for large teams of 10–13 runners, as the race has reached the upper limit of the number of teams we can currently accommodate comfortably.
- In 2027, the bike tour will once again start on Saturday morning, allowing our cycling participants to experience the NN UB atmosphere on Saturday as well. (Cyclists accompanying teams will continue to start alongside their respective teams.)
🚨 IMPORTANT!
For 7–13 person team categories, registration will only be open for 48 hours. If you miss this window, you will not be able to sign up! Please remember that after registering your team, you’ll need to transfer a deposit of 40,000 HUF/team.
WHAT STAYS THE SAME
- Accurate lap-time information is very important to us, as without it the race could descend into chaos. Therefore, teams that provide the most accurate lap times will be rewarded the following year with the right to choose their starting time!
- For the 2027 events, registration will once again be available through the StafétApp platform. All further information about the registration system can be found HERE.
- Under the name #Projekt418, the double individual lap will once again be offered as a separate category. Participation is qualification-based and can be completed for charitable purposes.
- StafétApp will help you calculate your lap times accurately, and a user guide is also available on the website.
- We need to place the T-shirt and medal orders again in September to ensure they arrive on time. Therefore, registration for 7–13-person teams and the McDonald’s Bringamánia Ultrabalaton Bike Tour will open on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 7:00 PM. Registration for individual runners and 2–6-person teams will open on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 7:00 PM.
- In 2026, registration for teams eligible for early registration and starting-time selection will open on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 7:00 PM. As there will be many participants, these teams will be able to choose a starting time within a designated time window based on their planned lap time. The available starting slots will be limited and allocated in the order of registration.
- T-shirt exchange will continue to be available at the end of the race, so there is no need to worry about later team-member changes.
- On Friday, extra refreshments will be provided inside the tent for green-bib individual runners and 2- and 3-person teams.
- At the individual finish area, all finishers will continue to be welcomed to the Athletes Garden, provided by Albatros Catering.
- SUB 24! Individual runners who finish within 24 hours will receive a unique commemorative medal!
- SUB 20! Individual runners who finish within 20 hours will receive an additional unique commemorative medal, on top of the SUB 24 medal!
- We start on the northern shore, head west, and return from the south.
- During the race, the course will remain 209 km for both individual runners and teams. For #Projekt418 participants, the distance will be 418 km – two laps!
- Finishers will receive a unique medal, with a ribbon corresponding to the number of laps completed.
- Individual runners will be welcomed at the finish with a personalised finish tape bearing their name.
- Individual runners will be able to choose their race number during registration.
- We will welcome you to a pasta party on the day before the race.
- In the corporate category, teams registering from the same company will, whenever possible, be started together in the same block.
- Individual runners finishing beyond the time limit will receive a “RESPECT” commemorative medal.
- We will organise a presentation for first-time teams to help support their team captains.
- In 2027, we plan to hold the event at the end of April. We will also designate a potential alternative date in advance, so that if the event needs to be postponed for any reason, all teams can prepare accordingly.
- In 2027, we will continue our efforts to organise one of Europe’s greenest running events. As part of the NN UB, we will therefore continue not to provide printed programmes or flyers. There will be no plastic plates at the pasta party and no single-use plastic cups. Every participant must therefore bring their own bottle or use a rentable “UB Trail” reusable cup, which can be returned and refunded at the end of the race.
- The monitoring and safety of railway crossings will remain a priority, because everyone is expected home safely!
- On Team Day, there will once again be a lead motorcycle, which participants will still be prohibited from overtaking!
- The NN UB Charity programme will return, as supporting people and causes in need remains important to us!
🎯 See you at the start line!
